The global pandemic as an event for the Venezuelan academy

This research aims at the contextual review of the situation of the university education from the approach of critical pedagogy, in the midst of the emergence of the global pandemic COVID-19 disease, caused by the new coronavirus SARS-CoV2, an epidemiological fact that due to its historically complex repercussions assumes the status of event. A methodical document inquiry was carried out from bibliographic sources and recent research, which together with reflections on the author’s academic work, offers a body of reflections on the various modalities of addressing this social function of particular importance for the economic and social development of the nation, from a position which allows to conclude that university education faces a huge challenge because social confinement limits the training of professionals. This is why the execution of multimodal attention
strategies are required, that favor interaction with teachers as social actors who dominate knowledge and are able to teach it.
