In the state of Merida, agricultural activity and tourism predominate. The main items are: potatoes, vegetables, coffee, fruit trees and sugar cane. These production systems are characterized by the indiscriminate use of agrochemicals; which cause the resurgence of new plagues and the undermining of biological diversity and the health of the peasants. The objective of this work was to analyze the technical and socioeconomic feasibility of the incorporation of agroecological management practices
of plagues to reduce the indiscriminate use of agrotoxics in these agroecosystems. There were established demonstrative management plots in seven communities of the municipalities of Rangel, Cardenal Quintero, Miranda, Pinto Salinas, Sucre, Caracciolo Parra and Olmedo and Rivas Dávila of Merida State. The methodology followed was that of participatory research. Diagnoses and monitoring of the incidence of plagues and diseases were carried out; practices of biocontrol, ethological control and cultural management were incorporated into cultivation plots and, for the socialization of knowledge, knowledge exchanges such as workshops, talks, fi eld days, design and distribution of didactic materials on the subject were carried out.
