On February 8, 2023, engineers Mario Rendón and William Ascanio, assigned to the Seismic Engineering Department of the Venezuelan Foundation for Seismological Research, traveled to Syria and Türkiye respectively, as members of the Humanitarian Rescue Task Force "Simón Bolívar", as rescue workers, additionally they carried out post-seismic inspections in structures affected by the seismic events of magnitude 7.8 and 7.5 that shook Türkiye on February 6, 2023, which was devastating with a large number of victims and structural collapses. This article presents a study of the factors that contributed to the collapse of the inspected buildings in the province of Adiyaman, focusing on the type of materials, design deficiencies and the date of construction. Through a case study of collapsed structures and a comparative analysis of Turkish earthquake-resistant regulations, the main causes of failure are identified and recommendations are proposed to improve the resilience of future constructions in seismic regions. In total, information was collected from 28 buildings and they were georeferenced.
