Abstract

The fundamental purpose of this research was to analyze business intelligence in the Venezuelan financial sector, identifying potential weaknesses within the development cycle that characterizes this technology, in order to facilitate the decision-making process. The research is descriptive, with a non-experimental, cross-sectional field design. Data collection techniques included direct observation and a survey, the latter based on a questionnaire administered to Business Intelligence personnel working at Banesco, Banco Occidental de Descuento, Corpbanca, and Banco Caroní, institutions that are part of the national financial sector. After analyzing the existing situation, the findings indicate a significant weakness in the analysis stage, which interferes with appropriate decision-making based on sensitive business information. Based on these results, a series of guidelines were formulated, including integrating business intelligence as part of the business strategy and increasing the priority of the preliminary stages of the process, among others. framed within the development of business intelligence in the Venezuelan financial sector.
