The study of the environmental problems presented by the Rio Turbio has been addressed over the years by different researchers, as it is an important aquifer in the region in which it is located. According to records of historical data collected and from own studies, it is observed that the conditions and characteristics of said aquifer show deterioration by the intervention of man. The purpose of establishing the timeline of physicochemical parameters of water quality of the Turbio River, allows to compare and validate information on water quality in order to establish the management of the basins based on the guidelines of the ARCAL-RLA established by environmental regulations, with historical data and with those obtained under the ARCAL-RLA010 model; some parameters present variations related to the exposure to diffuse sources and 010 Project, referred to to the improvement of surface water masses contaminated with metals. The design of the study, of descriptive type, is structured in the following stages: (a) sampling; (b) analysis of physical-chemical parameters; (c) comparison of results. The sampling and analysis were carried out consi
dering the procedures established in the Manual of Harmonized and Assessed Protocols ARCAL and Norms Covenin 2079: 2002. The sampling stations selected were: (a) Buena Vista; (b) Quebrada 171; (c) Puente Las Damas; (d) Rio Claro; (e) Guardit; (e) Slaughterhouse: and (f) Santa Rosa. The comparison of the results was made with the quality standards of the maximum permissible values their levels increase as the body of water crosses the city of Barquisimeto. The increase in the levels of some of them is observed as a function of time. For metals, there is a decrease in levels over time and point variations between stations. The turbidity in all cases exceeds the maximum permissible values. Most parameters are within the permissible limits.
